Creating a Summer Like No Other: Free Virtual Summer Re-Boot Camp 2021

Week 1 (May 31 – June 4): Summer Programming 101: What to Expect

Welcome to our first week of Statewide Afterschool Networks (SAN) Summer Re-Boot Camp! (www.sanrebootcamp.org). We are very excited to share these amazing free workshops that we’ve curated in order to help start up your summer program!

The SAN Re-Boot Camp was developed in partnership with the Connecticut After School Network, Utah Afterschool Network, Maine Afterschool Network, Missouri AfterSchool Network, ACT Now! (Illinois Mott Network), Oregon ASK (Oregon Mott Network) in collaboration with the 50 State Afterschool Network.  This free program consists of a four week intensive summer virtual training series. Like many of the virtual conferences that the 50 Statewide Afterschool Network have hosted in the past, these training sessions will help prepare programs to meet their full potential to serve the children and families in communities this summer.

This week we will be exploring what to expect during summer programming. These workshops are designed to help you ease your way back into the structure of the afterschool and summer programming fields. Some of the topics we will be discussing are: planning meaningful field trips, professionalism in afterschool and summer programs, behavior management and summer safety. Most of the workshops this week are program and staff essentials. We have some great workshops by our colleagues in Connecticut as well as one from Utah.

We cannot wait to guide everyone through this summer journey. After a long and challenging year, we are ready to come back better than ever. This will truly be a summer like no other.

Week 2 (June 7 – June 11): More than Beads, Putting Intention into Activities

Welcome back to our second week of Statewide Afterschool Networks (SAN) Summer Re-Boot Camp! (www.sanrebootcamp.org). We hope your first week was amazing and that you learned something new! Thank you to everyone who is continuing to participate. We have another round of amazing  free workshops that we can’t wait to share with you!

This week we will be exploring how to put intention into activities. When we think of activities we think of arts and crafts, but activities should also be made to teach meaningful lessons. Some of the topics we will be discussing are: social and emotional learning, self-care, planning for fun and trauma informed programming. Most of the workshops this week are program and staff essentials. This week’s workshops will be led by our colleagues in Connecticut, Missouri, Oregon and Utah.

We hope that you are all enjoying these incredible free workshops and have already curated ideas to make your afterschool and summer programs even more impactful. Afterschool is back in session!
